HazMat Incident Commander / Assistant Safety Officer
This course provides the tools a person needs to assume control of an emergency response to a hazardous materials incident. It focuses on how to assess hazards, manage risk, comply with legal requirements and implement protective actions. This program meets OSHA and NFPA recommendations for training at the Incident Commander level. This class also meets the CalOSHA training requirement, ICS training alone does not meet this requirement.
This course meets FIRESCOPE’s hazardous materials typing requirements of at least “one company member trained to a minimum of Assistant Safety Officer (ICS-HM-222-5) and shall meet or be equivalent to requirements found in Title 19 CCR 2520(r)”.
This class also meets NFPA 472 (2008) Chapter 11 – Competencies for Hazardous Materials Safety Officers.
